Nokia N90

Nokia today announced that its flagship imaging device, the Nokia N90, has been awarded the European Media Phone of the Year 2005-2006 by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA), the largest editorial multimedia organization in Europe.
The award comes just a day after widely distributed evaluation claiming that Nokia N90 had received poor reviews from operators and had therefore produced the model only in small numbers. A Mako Analysis spokesman compared N90 to Sony Ericsson’s 2 mega pixel camera phone that is considerably smaller and lighter than the bulky N90. Commenting on the award, EISA praised the Nokia N90 as a ‘true best-of-breed multimedia phone, stuffed full of advanced photo, video audio and messaging features’. EISA also highlighted the Nokia N90’s Carl Zeiss optics, which ‘endows it with serious photographic ability, including capturing and editing 2 mega pixel digital photos and MPEG 4 352x288 resolution video.’ EISA is the largest editorial organization in Europe, with a membership of 50 Audio, Mobile Electronics, Video and Photo magazines all drawn from 20 European countries. At the end of June, all EISA member magazines came together for the election of the European awards. The panel annually chooses the best equipment in a number of categories from products introduced during the preceding twelve months.

Announced in April, the Nokia N90 is the flagship camera product in Nokia’s newly launched Nokia Nseries range of high performance multimedia devices. “The Nokia N90 has raised the bar for mobile devices and we are delighted to receive this accolade from consumer electronics magazines across Europe,” said Tuula Rytilä-Uotila, Director, Imaging, EMEA, Multimedia, Nokia. “This award is also an endorsement of the strategy behind Nokia Nseries - to bring to market high performance multimedia devices which will make digital convergence a reality.

Nokia N72

Nokia today revealed the Nokia N72, a sleek addition to the Nokia Nseries range. The device is targeted to style conscious Asian market and it was announced in Hong Kong besides Berlin.
“A powerful yet stylish multimedia device, the Nokia N72 is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera and integrated digital music player, with dedicated capture and music player keys, an integrated browser, FM radio and support for Visual Radio,” says Nokia press release.

“The Nokia N72 perfectly illustrates our commitment to offer the powerful performance of the Nokia Nseries to people based in regions dominated by EDGE/GSM network coverage,” said Pekka Pohjakallio, vice president, Multimedia Computers, Nokia.This is first N-Series phone, or multimedia computer, as Nokia prefers to call them, which comes without 3Gradio.

“The design concept was inspired by what the Nokia N72 means to someone, rather than what it can merely do for that person. We drew on the relationship people have with things that inspire great performances, like the world’s finest grand piano or the perfect handcrafted writing pen, said Bill Sermon, vice president of Multimedia Design, Nokia.

The pearl pink and gloss black versions of the Nokia N72 have digital textures on the back, which personalize the device. “The overall design makes a strong statement for the Nokia N72 as a multimedia computer, but the digital textures, or graphics, on the back add a subtlety of personal ownership, that it is my device,” Sermon adds.The phone has 2.1 inch colour display and 2 megapixel (1600 x 1200 pixels) camera, which includes an integrated flash.

Matching themed headset and wrist strap are included in sales packs of the Nokia N72. The Nokia N72 is expected to be available from June 2006 in key markets worldwide, including the Middle East and Africa, Russia, Eastern Europe, mainland China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Nokia Mobile

Concept phone always entice me cause there is something in the way these phone look and have functions that are very unique to that particular phone. Guys at Yanko Design put some some excellent concept phones and this time a designer named Rune Larsen has designed a new Nokia concept mobile phone with fully functional touch screen which gets automatically filled by a substrate that gets pumped in by an in-built pump and gives your fingers something to feel and press. When in use, the buttons of the phone get filled up with water and the water resides down when you are not suing the buttons. This concept phone looks damn good with its jet black color and rectangular shape with a smart cut at one end. Hats off to the designer who has designed this concept. Really good!!!
